Today was another classroom day. It was looking again like a lot of rain, and we had some activities we could do inside so imagine today as a repeat of yesterday, except we weren’t in the archaeology centre to wash artifacts since we are all caught up (amazing!).
Before we broke into our usual groups of GIS/Mapping/Data Managment and Artifact Analysis, though, James sprung a little survey exercise on them for two reasons: 1. in the last two weeks sometime we are going to be shovel testing a field, and the instrument can’t see all the parts of the field because there are trees in the way, so they need to understand how to set up stations and calculate where they are in coordinate space, and 2. they have a test coming up based on the Standards and Guidelines, plus some survey principles.

It was a nice change to be indoors for a bit, but I think everyone is raring to get back out on site.
